Jaime A. Carvajal, M.D., is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in total and partial joint replacement and reconstruction of the hip and knee. He currently serves as a full-time faculty member of the Orthopaedic Surgery Department at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Carvajal is native of Medellin, Colombia, where he earned his M.D. degree from the Universidad CES in 2004. Working with experts in the field, he performed a 2-year clinical research fellowship at the University of Miami which focused on hip and knee

disorders of the adult. Dr. Carvajal completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami from 2009 to 2014. Following residency, Dr. Carvajal completed an adult joint reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Alberta in Canada. During his fellowship, he concentrated on primary and complex joint reconstruction techniques of the hip and knee, as well as, bilateral joint replacement procedures and unicondylar partial knee replacements. Dr. Carvajal has authored a variety of research articles and book chapters on diverse topics in the field of orthopaedics and joint reconstruction surgery.

His clinical interests include adult degenerative, inflammatory, and congenital disorders of the hip and knee leading to chronic, disabling pain and poor quality of life. He is an advocate of helping patients improve their functional status while minimizing their pain based on an early rehabilitation model.
